This worked great. I was able to prune back some pretty large branches that were at least 15′ from the ground. I added my own weight to it so I could throw it a bit better but that isn’t a big deal. The blade is basically a chainsaw blade and it is sharp. It works even better if you have two people so that the ropes are pulled a bit more across the top of the branch vs straight down on both sides. It binds a bit less that way but works well with just one person also.

Awesome to cut those high limbs!

I have BIG live oak trees in my yard with one limb that extended under the street light blocking all light at night. A 6 inch diameter limb. Found a fishing weight tied to fishing line to throw over limb, connected rope, and pulled chain into place. Just like a saw, you do not want to pull down hard or you will pull the teeth into the wood, and it will get stuck. Easy, even pulls from side to side and the sawdust will look like snow falling from the limb. Read and follow the directions that come with the chain saw.

Less than 5 minuted and the limb was on the ground. So worth the money. I used it to cut away tree limbs over hanging my chimney too.

Fun to use! Works as advertised and takes care of dangerous limbs.

My wife & I purchased this hand chain saw to get rid of dangerous dead pine tree limbs overhanging our back yard. The limbs had died after a bad ice storm this past winter and they needed to come down. First try was to try to cull them out with a battery operated sawzall using a 28ft extension ladder. This attempt was dangerous and precarious at best, I did not feel safe that high up on a ladder. We considered hiring a tree service, but decided to save $$ and thought a rope saw would do the trick. I ordered from the PockeTech unit from Amazon and it arrived quickly. Instead of using rocks for weight, I decided to put 2 – Impact Gun Deep Sockets inside the throwing bag. My 1st couple of throwing attempts were just off the mark, but eventually a perfect arc was made over the offending tree limb. Success! My wife & I cut a 8 inch tree limb in less than 5 minutes of sawing! This thing simply works. Better yet, you get a great sense of accomplishment when you perfect your technique and the limb comes falling down. Suggestion, loop hammers through the two black handle straps for more secure sawing. Thanks PockeTech!

Doubled sided chainsaw

Arrived quickly and worked great. Cut through a 12” tree limb in about 3 minutes. Key things to remember are; keep a good rhythm with your pulls, keep your angles consistent, and have patience. Great product, will buy again if needed.

Saved the cost of a professional.

Saved the cost of a professional tree trimmer. Used the saw on a limb about 15 feet off the ground. With the bag filled with sand, the trick was throwing it, and hitting, the corresponding limb with the rope attached. It took persistance, but we got it.

Saw word great. Just followed instructions. Took some time and effort, but not excessive.

Kit was complete. After use, hit the chain with wd-40 and put it back in the original bag for the next use.

All in all, worth the money. Saved arranging for a pro, and having to pay for it.

This saw works fantastic.

The first thing you should do is replace the clothes line rope with wire rope, then you don’t have to worry about the rope breaking or the stretch in it.

I used a sling shot to send landscaping string over the high branches. So far it has cut through many 3″ + branches of two oak trees on my property in prep to cut them down. This is much safer than a ladder or climbing a tree to cut the branches down.

Keep the saw moving to prevent it getting stuck. It’s far easier for two people to use it for larger branches.

Suprisingly sturdy for the price

This actually works! We had a branch that was partially broken off years ago but it was way to high to get to and still had about a 10″ attachment to our tree. My husband and a daring neighbor managed to throw this over the limb that was approximately 10″ in diameter, and see saw it until it fell, fortunately, not on them, it was a pretty big limb. While I think this is meant for much smaller limbs for firewood supply, it sure saved us a lot of money, paying a tree man to remedy our concerns about that pesky limb in our back yard.

Good handy saw to reach high branches

Good handy saw to reach high branches. I cut a bunch of them close to overhanging my roof. They were pretty big ones. I have not need to re-sharpen it yet. Actually, it works much better now than at the beginning. Maybe because I got the hang of it now. You do need to practice with some low branches yourself a bit, just like the instructions suggest. If you don’t, it will be much troublesome when it gets stuck high above the ground.

Two tips to offer. One is to make sure all the joints are moving freely before cutting by slightly rocking/bending them side way. The other is that it will be helpful to have a second person to pull/push the other end when cutting a high branch. This is a good idea for safety! It can also get pretty difficult when cutting something 25 ft. above.

I like the saw. It works great for me. It must be designed and made right.

Great for those high branches

Great for those high branches. Used a sling shot and a small sinker with a hole through it to shoot fishing line over the branch. Yes it took a few times but it works and then pull the saw with extension ropes over the branch and cut away. Two people are better than one here.

Awesome, so glad I bought this

Awesome, so glad I bought this. Thanks PockeTech, I didn’t know this tool existed!!! Crazy me was up in the tree with a mini chainsaw but had to give up when things got too high. I thought I was going to have to pay thousands for a professional until I saw this hand chainsaw. We ordered and tried it and already cut away a lot of unwanted limbs, probably 30 plus feet, love it. We are careful and as a team of 2 take our time to decide where to make cuts, can’t wait to cut more. Thanks to other customers who’ve posted, I found and used their tips that helped make this so successful for us. A couple of the ones that worked particularly well for us included letting the chain soak in light motor oil between cuts, using 2 people to pull back and forth while letting the chain do the work, and cut one branch at a time. I may not wait until it breaks to order another as this was the only double sided one I noticed on Amazon.
